Tetanus

Routine booster injections are no longer recommended once you have had a full primary course. You may need a booster for certain types of wound or if visiting some foreign countries. Your doctor or nurse can advise you about this.

Meningitis C and Second MMR

All young people up to the age of 24 years can now have a single vaccination for Meningitis C if they missed out on the childhood immunisation programme.

Please make an appointment for the above vaccinations with our practice nurse.

Hepatitis B

Certain at-risk groups must have protection of Hepatitis B vaccination, for example: nurses, health workers, and people in contact with sewage.

Flu Vaccination

We particularly recommend this for patients with heart, chest or kidney disease, diabetes and other chronic disease. It is also recommended for people over 65 years and for residents of nursing and residential homes. Please contact the reception staff mid September to make an appointment for the flu clinic.

Pneumonia Vaccination

A vaccination against a particular form of pneumonia is available for patients who are either over 65 years old, have certain chronic conditions or who have no spleen. Please make an appointment with our practice nurse.

Immunisation For Travelling Abroad

The practice provides a full range of immunisations and advice on travel abroad. Please make a travel vaccination appointment with the nurse. Do give yourself plenty of time (at least six weeks) to have the vaccinations before you go.

Our Wadebridge surgery is a designated yellow fever centre.

Other Non-NHS Services

Medical examinations for HGV and PSV licences and for pre-employment are not paid for by the NHS. Some insurance forms, such as certificates for elderly drivers' insurance, appear deceptively simple but need a full medical examination for their completion. Examinations of this nature take time and a fee is chargeable. Please ask at reception for details.

A special appointment will be required and the fee is payable by the patient at the time of the examination. Examinations for life insurance will also need a special appointment.
