Anne Boney is responsible for the general management of the practice. She is supported by a team of receptionists, secretaries and dispensers to ensure the smooth running of the practice.
The Nursing Team
Working together for our patients.
For the last few years we have piloted a highly successful project which had involved integrating the practice and community nursing teams.
This has provided huge benefits in the sharing of skills and has improved communications between the team, which has helped to improve patient care.
Practice Nurses
Our practice nurses are highly trained and experienced and run daily general surgeries by appointment at Port Isaac, Wadebridge and St. Kew. They also hold specialised clinics in asthma, diabetic care and coronary heart disease.
They are supported by two health care assistants who run phlebotomy clinics.
Community Nurses
The community nurses specialise in the provision of essential nursing care in the home. They are at the centre of our health care team and also work from the practice premises. The nurses specialise in wound management and leg ulcers. They run a specialised eldercare service and an innovative falls prevention programme. The nurses can be contacted via our reception staff.
Health Visitor
The health visitor who works as part of the community team is based within the practice. She is a qualified nurse with special training and experience in child health, health promotion and health education. Her aim is to provide a wide range of information, support and expertise to the practice population, focusing significantly on the 0-5 year olds and their families. She is directly accessible and provides home visits to offer support in a non-judgmental and confidential manner. She also runs regular child health clinics. To contact the health visitor ring 01208 256877 or leave a message at the Port Isaac or Wadebridge practice reception.
Maternity Care
Our community midwives, together with their colleagues, our nursing team and doctors provide a comprehensive maternity service. Antenatals are seen on an individual basis and parentcraft classes are held regularly at Bridge Medical Centre.
If you are considering pregnancy there is literature at reception which gives you helpful advice. To make an appointment with our midwives please contact our reception staff.
Mental Health
The doctors and primary healthcare team have a special interest in the mental health of their patients.
Our under-16 population is not forgotten and your GP can either make a referral to a family therapy team or help with a self referral to the SHARE youth counsellors, telephone 01208 79252.
The practice also has experienced counsellors and psychologists who work from the practice and offer talking therapies to deal with conditions like phobias, anxieties and mild depression. Please see your doctor if you wish to make use of this service.
